Comment received on Facebook about a link we posted to an article about raising boys to be gentle and compassionate:

My son is almost 20 now, and the Aware Parenting books were a godsend. I don't believe it was an accident that they fell into our hands. This approach helped me raise an empathetic, loving, and conscious young man who treats the people in his life, including girlfriends and female friends, with tremendous love and respect. I'm so grateful to have found this information.

My son is turning 21 in April. I was introduced to Tears and Tantrums when he was an infant! "Godsend" is definitely an apt word to describe how I feel about Aware Parenting!

I just wanted to take a minute and say how truly magnificent it is raising my teenagers with Aware Parenting. My son is almost 18, and my daughter is 14 (and I also have a 10-year-old daughter). I have to say that, having done Aware Parenting with them for the last ten years, the teenager years have been so wonderful. Not once have I had yelling or disagreements. Just such open communication and connection and sharing of their lives. They are such happy teenagers and so passionate and courageous about life, as they have such a relaxed sense of themselves. Everyone always comments on how amazing they are, and their emotional intelligence is so pronounced. I absolutely feel that I have Aware Parenting to thank for this. So thank you for all your amazing work. I see it every day in my children and say a prayer of thanks that I found Aware Parenting.

You were a life changer for me. Thank you so much for all that you do. I wish I had come across your work when my child was just born. I would have avoided so many mistakes. Anyway, itís never too late, and implementing the suggestions in your books has entirely changed our family dynamics. I am eternally grateful for that.

I really wish your book was handed out in hospitals (before parents leave with a newborn) so that people do not fall into the trap of behavioral psychology. I sleep trained my older child. It felt wrong, but my pediatrician said it was okay, and I read nine mainstream parenting books on sleep.

I noticed the negative effects of sleep training by the time my child was three years old. She was a champion sleeper, but at what cost? The term "sleep training" turns my stomach upside down now. Thereís some truly harmful advise out there, which is widely supported by pediatricians.

I did not sleep train my son. I was lucky enough to start reading your books when he was four months old. What a different child he is. And I just LOVE the crying-in-arms approach. Thank you for all that you do.

Aware Parenting has brought me a deep connection with my child and with myself, and that's something I feel so thankful for.

I am getting very immersed in your books as I have a one-year- old, and it's just so relevant to our parenting. Thank you so much. I have a question and I am hoping you can help me with it. Our baby has used a pacifier from birth, and we'd like to wean him from it. Is there any advice in your book on how to do this respectfully?

Reply from Aletha Solter: Thanks for your message and interest in Aware Parenting. See pages 60 to 62 in my book, The Aware Baby, for a description of removing a pacifier respectfully. Please visit our parent support page for suggestions of finding help and support with the Aware Parenting approach.

My husband and I were new parents of a two-month-old when our five-year-old niece came to live with us, and it felt like complete chaos. The Aware Parenting approach changed our lives! We saw this very traumatized child transform as we learned to give loving attention when she needed to cry or rage. We have been using this approach with our own daughter as well, and she is so happy, curious, and content. I'm very grateful to have learned about Aware Parenting and Dr. Solter's wonderful books.

Thank you for inspiring me not only to heal from my own childhood, but to parent in a way that fosters deep connection and respect. I look forward to continue sharing the Aware Parenting approach with all those willing to listen.
